The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will head to the ARC Aquatic Center in New York, NY to take on CUNYAC rivals, Baruch College at 6:00 pm. Both of the Dolphins’ programs have swam out to a great start this season, with the men boasting a 2-1 overall record while the women follow up with a 2-2 overall record.  Both teams are undefeated within the conference and will hope to stay perfect tonight.

Swimmers to Watch (CSI): Two-time Collegeswimming.com Swimmer of the Week Ewa Wojciechowska has been outstanding this season, picking up seven first place finishes and two second place finishes. Samantha Escobedo has also been powering through her lanes this season, placing first in five events. On the men’s side, it’s Tim Sweeney, who has been breaking records all season long.  Sweeney has eight first place finishes and a top 15 time in the country.  Nick Defonte has also swam well this season, touching the wall first three times and collecting 65 total points so far this season.   
Swimmers to Watch (BC):  Wendy Ambrosio led the Bearcats in their last meet taking first place in the 200 Free by over 20 seconds. Asimina Hamakiotes also tallied another win for Baruch in the 800 Free while Debbie Li recorded a time of 31.47 in the 50 Free.  For the men, Erik Kantar and Mohammed Amer took the top two spots in the 50 Free.
News and Notes: The men last lost to Baruch back in the 2014-15 season by a score of 85-120.  On the women’s side, the last time CSI defeated Baruch came back in the 2008-09 season by a score of 106-99.  Both the men and the women have been swimming & diving extremely well this season and will look to continue having success against their CUNYAC opponents.  Baruch College does not have diving at their events, so the Dolphins will have to earn their win tonight in the lanes.
