President Rodriguez and President Lynch tour active DASNY projects that are transforming student spaces, technology systems and academic facilities

Robert J. Rodriguez, President and CEO of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and CSI President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch toured the CSI campus yesterday to review a range of active and recently completed capital projects that are transforming campus infrastructure, enhancing student spaces, and strengthening the College’s ability to serve the Staten Island community.

DASNY currently manages more than a dozen active projects at CSI, spanning design, construction, and closeout phases, with investments totaling over $150 million. These efforts represent a continued commitment to improving academic facilities, campus resilience, and student life across the City University of New York (CUNY) system.

“DASNY’s work at the College of Staten Island demonstrates what happens when partnership and purpose align,” said DASNY President & CEO Robert J. Rodriguez. “From modernized athletic facilities to critical infrastructure upgrades and new learning environments, these projects are investments in opportunity. They will strengthen the student experience, support academic innovation, and help ensure that CSI continues to serve as a vital hub for the Staten Island community.”

The visit included a guided campus tour highlighting several active and completed projects:

• General Campus Overview: Review of ongoing infrastructure upgrades supporting campus-wide reliability and modernization.

• Softball Fields: Part of a larger athletic field renovation effort enhancing recreational and competitive sports facilities.

• Chazanoff School of Business: Home to new academic and collaborative spaces supporting student entrepreneurship and applied learning.

• Campus Center (Building 1C): Central hub for student services and engagement, benefitting from continued interior and systems improvements.

The tour also included updates on several major DASNY-managed projects underway across the CSI campus, including:

• Substation Replacement – Installation of a new 10.0/13.3 MVA substation to strengthen the campus electrical distribution system and improve reliability.

• 1A & 2A Elevator and Entrance Modernization – Replacement of main entry doors and elevators to enhance accessibility and energy efficiency.

• Campus-Wide IT Fiber Replacement – Installation of new fiber optic infrastructure to improve digital connectivity across all campus buildings.

• Pump House Replacement and Tunnel Repairs – Critical infrastructure upgrades improving system resilience and operational reliability.
