This January, the Office of Recruitment and Admissions will host two in-person New Student Orientations (NSOs) for our incoming freshmen and transfer students. New Student Orientation (NSO) is a pre-semester mandatory orientation program for all incoming students with less than six transfer credits from another institution. This program is designed to help new students to become familiar with the CSI campus, CSI’s academic programs, and what to expect as a new student at CSI. In addition, NSO provides new students with information regarding the many services and resources available to them. Moreover, it is also an opportunity for new students to meet other incoming students, faculty, staff, and New Student Mentors. The overall goal of NSO is to provide students with a sense of belonging and connection to the campus community, help them to develop partnerships, and ease students’ transition to CSI.

For your reference, a sample NSO outline is online.

Students will be required to attend one of the sessions below. It will take place in the Center for the Arts ( Building 1P) on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, 8:30am – 2:15pm*
  • Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, 8:30am – 2:15pm*

* If inclement weather occurs on Jan. 14 or Jan. 22, the make-up day will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.

Please note: Participants (students) attending CSI Advisement and Registration Training (CART) the same day will be required to stay until approximately 4:30pm.

Like the NSO sessions this past summer, we will host a Student Services Fair in the Center for the Arts Atrium each day from approximately 1:00pm – approx. 2:15pm. The Fair provides an overview of services and opportunities that are important for a successful first-year experience. If your department/program would like to reserve a table and participate in the Fair, please contact John Kim, New Student Programs Coordinator, at John.Kim@csi.cuny.edu or 718.982.2012, by Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
