Dolphins men’s soccer tied with City Tech, 1-1, after an incomplete overtime period. The College of Staten Island extended their record to 3-4-2 in the CUNY while City Tech extends to 4-2-3.
 
Despite four shots by CSI and two by City Tech in the first half both teams were silent on the scoreboard in the first half. At the 61st minute, CSI’s Ahmed Barakat broke the silence with an unassisted goal. Twelve minutes later, City Tech’s Redom Rexha tied the game off of a pass by Tirelo Morake.
 
Just one minute into overtime the Yellowjackets goalie Nelson Restrepo left the game with an injury leaving the with just six players on the field forcing the officials’ to call the game. There were no shots taken in the one minute period.
 
CSI totaled 12 shots to City Tech’s four shots. Abraham Vivas had five shots with four on-goal while Dong Luu had four shots, all on-goal. Dolphins goalie Ahmed El-Ghareib tallied one save while City Tech’s Restrepo totaled ten saves.
 
Six fouls were called on the Dolphins. City Tech totaled four. CSI’s Lirim Begai received a yellowcard at the 86th minute of play.
 
The Dolphins will travel to St. Joseph’s College- Patchogue on Monday, October 25 for an 8:30 pm contest.
