The Dolphins season came to an end in volleyball as #6 CSI fell to #4 Lehman College, 3-0, on Tuesday evening in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals. CSI’s final record is 4-18 while the Lightning extended to 13-13 as they move onto the semifinals on Thursday, November 3
Lehman came out strong taking the three sets in under one hour; 25-11, 25-12 and 25-14.
CSI had a total of 13 kills led by Maricor Soccoro-Calleja with four who just returned to the team after a five game absence due to injury. JeanMarie Lewandowski totaled 14 digs. Jennifer Samuel and Gabriele Breadshaw had five assists apiece.
With a total of 32 kills, the Lightning were led by Gerri-Ann Martin and Shari Quiles who had 8 kills apiece. Jasmine Bermudez totaled 25 assists while Jo-marie Aquino had seven service aces.
Coach Atef Dosse was upset with the end of the season but proud of the overall effort his team put in during the season, “We improved tremendously throughout the season, however, we’ve got a lot of work to put in during the off-season to prepare for a better season next year and I’m looking forward to that.”
