The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s basketball teams won four awards at the CUNY Conference’s annual pre-tournament awards luncheon on Thursday at the Water Club in Manhattan.

Junior forward Will Fonseca walked away with a much deserved CUNYAC Player of the Year honor.  Fonseca led the nation in double-doubles with 21 in 23 games while also leading the CUNYAC in scoring with 25.8 ppg while also leading the CUNYAC in rebounding with 12.7 per game.

Sophomore guard Frank Schettino landed a spot on the CUNYAC All-Star first team after receiving CUNYAC Rookie of the Year just a year ago. Schettino leads the nation in total assists with 185 and is second in the nation in assists per game with 8.0 both which also lead the CUNYAC.

On the women’s side Victoria Crea was honored with the CUNYAC All-Star second team as she was a crucial part in the Dolphins’ offense this season.  Crea was second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while dishing 2.2 assists per game.

Freshman forward Christina Pasaturo took home CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors after having an outstanding rookie season.  Pasaturo led the Dolphins in scoring with 15.4 ppg (386), she was also second on the team in rebounding with 6.2 per game.

Next up for the men is York College at 1:00 p.m. at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center on Sunday in Staten Island, NY for the CUNYAC Quarterfinals.  The women will be taking on John Jay College at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday also at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center.
