The College of Staten Island women’s tennis squad is back on the courts today after a convincing CUNYAC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinal win, and will take on the No. 3 seeded Hunter College Hawks as part of Semifinal play at the CSI Tennis Center at 2:30pm. The matchup with the Hawks is a rematch of last year’s Final. Hunter College earned into the semifinal via a 5-3 win over John Jay College.

Players To Watch (CSI): CSI got big wins in Doubles from Nozima Toshpulatova and Michelle Kushnir yesterday and they will seek repeat performances here this afternoon. Look for Michelle Kushnir in singles to make a splash as she is riding a long, eight-match win streak coming in.
Players To Watch (HC): Olivia Funk and Paulina Szegda took big singles matches the last time these two teams played and will look to guide the Hawks to a win this afternoon. Sara Beck is another force in the lineup, having sported a 6-3 regular season singles record.
News and Notes: Today marks the fourth-straight year these teams are meeting in the postseason tournament. In 2012, Hunter defeated CSI in the Final. CSI won the matches in 2013 and 2014, winning in the semis in 2013 and the Final last year. These two teams have dominated the conference the past two decades, having won the last 17 CUNYAC Championships. In the other CUNYAC Semifinal going on today. top-seeded Baruch College will take on No. 4 Brooklyn College beginning at 12:30pm at the CSI Tennis Center.
