After starting the season a perfect 5-0 the Dolphins are 1-3 over their last four matches. Staten Island dropped another match tonight against Ramapo College 8-1 while puts the Dolphins at 6-3 on the year while the Roadrunners improve to 8-1.
The Roadrunners swept the Dolphins in double play which really put the Dolphins on their heels as they went into singles play down 3-0. The team of Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert and Madiha Mulla fought hard in their matchup on the no. 1 court but fell 8-4 giving the duo their second loss of the season.
Bragerton-Nasert gave the Dolphins their only win of the afternoon when she defeated Carly Agrifolio 6-2, 6-2. Mulla, who normally plays in the no. 3 slot, was bumped up to the no. 2 spot this afternoon and took on Tamila Kadyer-Akhunova in an intense match that lasted three sets. After a close set one (7-5) Mulla bounced back with a 6-0 sweep before eventually getting knocked off 10-2 in the final.
Michelle Kushnir had a battle in the no. 4 slot losing 6-4 in the first set before dropping the second 6-1.
CSI will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Wayne, NJ to take on William Paterson University in a non-conference match-up at 4:00 pm.
