The College of Staten Island men’s tennis team is back on the courts today, and will be joined by the women’s program for its date with Oneonta State at 12 Noon.  The women’s sides were slated to meet in the fall season but were washed out, so the two programs are combining efforts today instead.  The men’s unit is 4-5, coming off of a solid win against St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Thursday.  The women’s season finalized on October 24, with a 14-4 record.

Players to Watch (CSI): CSI’s Andrew Adia levelled his personal singles mark to 4-4 this year after a win in CSI’s last game against the Golden Eagles.  Freshman Matthew Vesci has been a welcomed bright spot for the Dolphins, posting a 5-3 record…CSI’s women are led by captain Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert, who posted a 15-2 overall singles record and a spectacular 16-2 doubles mark.  Michelle Kushnir was a spectacular 11-2 this season in singles play.
Players to Watch (OS):  Andrew Emanuel has been stellar so far in match play and tournament play, boasting a 12-2 singles mark that includes a five-match win streak.  Top flight ace Matthew Nelson is 7-2 in dual match play, all at the No. 1 spot…Alana Green is likewise capable on the women’s end, boasting a 10-7 mark all at the top spot in single play.  Faith Haedrich boasts an 11-7 doubles record overall and is used predominantly on doubles teams as she has just a 2-0 overall singles record.
News and Notes: This is the first meeting ever between the two teams in their respective histories.  The CSI men are 2-3 this season at home, while the Women boasted a stellar 8-2 home record during their traditional season.  Oneonta’s women were 3-5 away from home during the year, while the men are one game under the .500 mark, at 2-3.
