The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team is off and running with their 2017 season under new head coach Lak Wai (Larry) Ng, but the team took a break from a rare weekend off to lend their talents to area youth and coaches as part of Staten Island’s PSAL Coaches Clinic which took place at New Dorp High School on Saturday. The two-hour event saw coaches from all over the tri-state area learn tips and tricks to enhance their professional development with CSI volleyball on full display.
This was a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the CSI Women’s Volleyball team, and it was a chance for players and coaches to engage with coaches and other athletes within the community to help enhance and broaden the sport of volleyball, specifically within the borough. Ng was approached by the PSAL to lead the clinic, and CSI student-athletes participated by going through several organized practice activities, demonstrating and teaching coaches new ideas. The demonstration of drills was beneficial for both the participants and the coaches.
The event was so successful that CSI hopes to bring future clinics and workshops directly to the Willowbrook campus in the months to come. For more photos of CSI coaches and students in action, please visit the Photo Gallery below.
