The College of Staten Island men’s volleyball team serves up their 2018 campaign tonight when they travel to New York, NY to take on John Jay College in a non-CUNYAC match at 7:00 pm.

Players to Watch (CSI): Mark Palencia comes into the season as the Dolphins’ leading scorer from a season ago. Palencia finished 2017 with 214 points and a team-high 191 kills. Palencia will look to continue attacking the net and improve his number. Steven Caruso and Zebin Guo will split time as the setter this season after both Adil El Haddad and Brandon Lei have moved on, leaving a hole in the setter position. Caruso was crucial when his team was serving last season, leading the team with 22 service aces. Ronald Tisbe returns as the team’s libero for his senior season after leading the team with 154 digs.
Players to Watch (JJC): Krystian Surdej paces the Bloodhounds with 56 kills through five matches followed by Juan DeJesus with 44. Surdej has also found success on serves, tallying a team-high 16 service aces. Christopher Rincon has been successful setting up his teammates, tallying 132 assists already for an average of 8.25 per set. Godwin Sequiera is stout on the back line, collecting 36 digs with just two receiving errors this season.
News & Notes: The Dolphins are 0-5 all-time against the Bloodhounds after starting their program in 2015. The newly revamped Dolphins will look to earn their first victory over the Bloodhounds in school history tonight. John Jay already has five matches under their belt this season however, this will be the first match they play in their arena tonight.
