On Friday, Nov. 2, there will be a free Mental Health First Aid Certification Training open to all students. The location is the Campus Center (Building 1C) Green Dolphin Lounge and will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is offering this training that provides proven practices to help recognize the early signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance misuse. Training participants will learn how to listen without judgment, and respond to and help someone in distress until they can get the professional care they may need. After completing the training, participants receive a three-year certification in Mental Health First Aid.
Students can sign up to take a training course online.
