The College of Staten Island Dolphins men’s squad is on the road tomorrow for a Thursday night 2016 season opener with the Rams of Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY.  The Dolphins finished last season with a 4-8-1 record on the road with five of those loses coming in the first five games of the season.  This year, the Dolphins will look to turn that around and start the season bursting out of the gates.

Players To Watch (CSI):  There’s a new man between the pipes this year for the Dolphins and his name is Jake Foeldes, a 6’2″ freshman from South Brunswick, NJ. His presence in the box will be felt throughout the league and set pieces, which the Dolphins had trouble defending last season, should now be an issue of the past.  Captaining the team, and a brick wall in the back line, is senior Ruben Diaz. Diaz will step on the pitch with added purpose this year after falling in the CUNYAC Championship game just a year ago.
Players To Watch (FSC): Richard Mastrangelo will once again look to lead the Rams in scoring after pacing the team with 9 goals just last season as a freshman.  The freshman played in 21 games last year, starting in 20 of them and tallied a total of 19 points, good for second on the squad.  The Rams lost their leader in points to graduation and will look for junior center man John Kender to fill in the void that was left.
News and Notes: CSI has won two of the last three meetings, outscoring the Rams, 10-8. In this series the Dolphins have actually been better on the road against Rams than at home and boast a 2-1 record when playing in Farmingdale, NY.  The men will field a different looking attacking squad this season as several key players have moved on.  Coach John Tardy will look to his freshman to fill big shoes and produce on the field.  After a rough start to the season for the Dolphins in their 2015 campaign they finished off the season 7-3 in their final 10 games and made it to the CUNYAC Championship game.
