College of Staten Island Women’s Soccer freshman Jordan Yagos has wasted little time making an impression, as she has been named Rookie of the Week by the City University of New York Athletic Conference. Yagos was a part of CSI’s season-opening victory on Sunday over Penn College and the Dolphins are hoping this is only the beginning of a great season for her.
A former standout at New Dorp High School on Staten Island, Yagos integrated nicely into the Dolphins’ rotation on Sunday. She logged a total of 70 minutes as a reserve in the game against Penn, and her lone shot on frame connected for a goal in the 64th minute of play. The goal stood as the game-winner, as CSI would ultimately win the contest, 3-2.
The Dolphins will have a busy week and Yagos will be an increased part of the action. CSI will face off against Ramapo College on the road on Wednesday at 3:30 pm, before returning home this weekend to face William Paterson University at 11 am on Saturday.
