In recognition of State Senator John J. Marchi’s enormous contributions to public life, the College of Staten Island will honor the Senator on Wednesday, Nov. 29 with a daylong celebration of his work that will include the dedication of John J. Marchi Hall, a conference exploring his political legacy, and a gala dinner at the Staten Island Hilton.
John J. Marchi Hall will be the new name of Building 2N, which houses the Political Science program and the Department of History.
Following the dedication at 10:00am, the Staten Island Project will host a conference, entitled “On the Merits: The Distinguished Career of John J. Marchi,” centered on the Senator’s contributions to CSI, CUNY, and the larger community.
The Marchi Gala Honorary Committee includes President Springer, Chancellor Goldstein, Former Governors Carey and Cuomo, Former Mayors Koch and Dinkins, Senator Schumer, Senate Majority Leader Bruno, Congressman Fossella, Italian Consul General Bandini, and many other dignitaries.
