Huge 66-point first half explosion by the Dolphins leads to a massive 105-39 victory over the College of New Rochelle in the ECAC Quarterfinals. The 105 points was the eight most scored by the Dolphins since the 2004 season. Staten Island will now take on Rutgers Newark at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday in Brooklyn, NY.
Staten Island surged to a 21-3 run that spanned over the first seven minutes of the first half. Victoria Crea was dicing the Blue Angels’ defense apart and dishing the ball to her open teammates for high percentage shots that the Dolphins were able to convert.
Megan Myhre came into tonight’s game needing 39 points to reach 1000 points in her career. Myhre dropped a season high 29 points in tonight’s game on 11-20 shooting from the floor while cashing in on 7 of her 15 three-point attempts.
The Blue Angels couldn’t find the answer to stop the Dolphins’ high octane offense tonight which resulted in four of the Dolphin starters scoring in double digits. Christina Pasaturo finished the game with 15 points and a career high seven assists in tonight’s contest.
CSI shot a season high 65% in the first half of the game which enabled the Dolphins to score the season high 66-points. The women would finish shooting 52.6% from the field while also shooting 47.1% from three-point range.
Jah-Leah Ellis was the lone bright spot for New Rochelle’s offense, scoring 18 points and grabbing 18 rebounds in tonight’s game.
With the win the Dolphins are now 6-3 in the Quarterfinals of the ECAC tournament. The Dolphins are 4-2 in the Semifinals and will look to defeat Rutgers Newark and improve to 5-2 and make the Finals for the fifth time in school history.
