The College of Staten Island Men’s and Women’s Cross Country squads hosted the CSI Invitational today at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island, NY. The women started the day off at 10 am and finished behind Suffolk Community College for second place overall. The men took the top spot today after an outstanding performance out in the field with 36 points.
Victoria Crea once again led the Dolphins with a time of 23:31 good enough for 14th place overall and second for CUNYAC runners in the 5k event. Frances Gonzalez was the next Dolphin in, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:03, good for 17th overall in the 112-person meet. Victoria Barry finished 26th overall with a time of 24:55.
Rebecca Vidal and Kristina Morel rounded out the CSI squad with times of 25:17 and 25:33 respectively.
Ryleigh Donegan from Suffolk Community College won the meet with a time of 20:23. CSI came in first out of all the CUNYAC schools with a total of 109 points followed by York (150) and Brooklyn (254).
Christopher Swenson from Suffolk Community College was first to cross the finish line with a time of 17:15 giving his squad an early lead in the standings.
The Dolphins had two finishers in the top five. Andrew Scharf came in third place with a time of 17:53 while Liam McMunn trailed not too far behind him for a fourth place finish with a time of 18:16.
Matthew Day came in ninth for the Dolphins with a time of 18:51.
Kenneth Morella, Khaled Halwani and Samuel Obisanya all finished right after each other in the 15, 16, 17 spot rounding out the scoring for the Dolphins and giving them a first place finish.
CSI placed first among the three CUNYAC schools that participated in the men’s meet.
