For the second consecutive year, the College of Staten Island has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Colleges for Women, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to creating an environment where women can thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
The ranking, developed by Newsweek in partnership with Gender Fair, evaluates colleges and universities across four key areas: leadership, pay and policies, safety, and opportunity. The methodology draws on data from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and Campus Safety and Security Database, along with additional research focused on gender equity and institutional support for women.
“Being recognized once again by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Colleges for Women is a meaningful affirmation of the work taking place across our campus every day,” said CSI President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch. “We remain committed to creating opportunities for women to excel academically, pursue their ambitions, and make a lasting impact in our community and beyond. We are honored by this recognition and will continue to foster an inclusive environment where faculty, staff, and students can achieve their fullest potential.”
Colleges are also assessed on measures such as representation of women in academic leadership positions, pay equity, campus safety, access to childcare resources, and opportunities for students and faculty from diverse backgrounds. A total of 800 schools were tabbed as a Top Women’s College by Newsweek this year, and CSI placed among the top half of ranked institutions nationally and in New York State.
The continued recognition highlights CSI’s ongoing efforts to foster equity, leadership development, and student success across its campus community. As one of a select group of institutions nationwide recognized in the ranking, CSI remains dedicated to providing opportunities that empower women to achieve their educational and career goals.
