Nedgy Nazon, Demi-Jean Martarano and Samuel Obisanya have all garnered CUNYAC Player of the Week honors for the time period of 10/1 through 10/7.
On the Men’s Soccer side, Nazon dominated the offensive output this past week for the Dolphins, tallying five goals and an assist. The junior from Brooklyn began the week with a two goal, one assist output in a, 4-3, loss against John Jay College. Nazon followed up the John Jay performance with a hat trick at the homecoming game against Hunter College, which resulted in a 4-0 win. The forward’s offensive performance could’ve been even higher as he recorded an astounding 12 shots, 9 on goal, in the two games. Nazon is far and away the leading goal scorer for the Dolphins this season and is also tied for 10th in the entire NCAA DIII with his 12 tallies on the year.
For the women’s squad, Martarano continues to light up the back of the net this season. She dominated opposing defenses this past week with eight goals and two assists. In a, 14-4, drubbing of Brooklyn College; Martarano tallied five goals and two assists, as well as 14 shots (12 on goal). For an encore, she recorded a hat trick five days later in a, 5-0, win over John Jay. Martarano’s torrid scoring pace is good for second in the entire NCAA DIII in points per game with 4.0 and goals per game with 1.667. Her 15 goals overall are tied for 7th in DIII.
And finally on the Cross-Country team, Obisanya, a freshman from Staten Island, ran a personal best 28:49.68 in last week’s 2012 York College Invitational 8k. Good for third place in the entire race of 128. Obisanya has had a solid freshman season for the Dolphins combining with sophomore, Andrew Pate to routinely be CSI’s top two runners at each meet this year.
